The test is two age-standardised multiple-choice papers covering English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.
As there is no state boys' grammar in Wolverhampton, boys generally sit the same partnership test and apply to Queen Mary's Grammar in neighbouring Walsall (or other partnership schools). The test is sat in September at the start of Year 6.
