Children take a single GL Assessment test — two multiple-choice papers covering English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning — sat in mid-September at the very start of Year 6.
One result covers both the Southern area (Stratford-upon-Avon and Alcester) and the Eastern area (Rugby), so families can name schools in either or both. Registration is through Warwickshire County Council the summer before, and scores are age-standardised with places offered by rank order subject to catchment.
